Navigating the Trail: Tips for Success
While the Four Lagunas Trek promises astounding vistas, navigating the trail between Paso del Zorro and Laguna Ahuac can be challenging, especially in snowy conditions. Thankfully, you’ll find helpful markers along the way to guide your journey. However, be mindful that these markers can be obscured by snow, making it essential to consult with locals about the trail’s current conditions before embarking on this adventure.
Reaching the Trailhead for Laguna Radian
Accessing the trailhead for the Four Lagunas Trek is a breeze. In fact, it shares the same starting point as the out-and-back hike to Laguna Radian. Here’s how you can get there:
- Begin your journey in Huaraz and make your way to the corner of Jr. Cajamarca and 13 De Diciembre.
- Look for colectivos heading to Wilcahuain (bus Line 13). Colectivos are a convenient and regular mode of transport, departing every 10 minutes starting from 6 am. To maximize your trekking time, catching the 6 am colectivo is advisable.
- The colectivos from Wilcahuain to Huaraz generally conclude their services around 6 pm.
- The cost for this journey is a mere S/2.50 ($0.50 USD) per person, and the round trip takes approximately half an hour each way.
